An evening with The Gentle Storm in a sold-out Mezz Breda.

Anneke and I have come to know each other very well these past years. We've worked together quite a lot the last months, so for the kick-off of the new European tour, I was invited to join her and her band on the first day.

It was a two-hour drive to Breda. I got there at about 6pm, found my way in and quite immediately started shooting. All these guys and girls are one big family, but everytime I come round, they make me feel incredibly welcome. Dutch hospitality one could say. I just think this family rocks, big time!

After soundcheck, the whole gang went for dinner outside the venue. Great food, great vibes! The evening was off to a great start.

When doors had already opened, we headed back to the venue to prepare for the show, so I could finally pick up my camera again and start shooting. The reason why I tend not to take out my camera during dinner is pretty obvious. Chewing does not stand for great pictures. Quite the contrary. There is no way, not ANY way, to shoot flattering images during breakfast, lunch or dinner.

And then, showtime! After a rocking show of Stream Of Passion, Anneke and her band performed a small two-hour set! As a matter of fact, there was such a huge variety in songs, that it never got bored.
It was a full house tonight, so before doors opened, Paul (The Gentle Storm's tourmanager extraordinary) had arranged me a spot at the disco booth which I could shoot from. It was higher platform, right next to the stage, which was ideal to shoot some great images. No photopit and packed venue means one needs to get creative. Fortunately, the lights were on my side as well.

After the show, I followed the guys backstage and during the signing session.

I'll see this family again in a couple of weeks and I have to say I can't wait! Moments like these really make me realize how fortunate I am. Hard work does pay of, people. Never take anything for granted!
